Job Title Civil Project Technical Leader

Primary purpose of role;

Contribute to the MWH business goals by providing technical expertise in water treatment design. Provide expertise to clients in the design of a wide variety of projects.

Provide technical expertise to ensure that projects are delivered to cost, schedule and high technical standards required to meet both client and MWH expectations.


Job Description


  • Experience within the water industry with a focus on the design of water treatment plants
  • Work as part of the water treatment team for new, upgraded and enlarged water treatment plants to help provide a safe supply of water.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, including coaching, mentoring and training within specific areas of responsibility and expertise as required.
  • Maintain an up to date technical knowledge of survey, design, drafting, project and contract management standards and techniques.
  • Undertake appropriate research related to existing assets and investigation and design modifications / improvements.
  • Use appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for clients.
  • Complete all work in line with MWH Core Values and in accordance with MWH Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject.
  • A member of a relevant engineering Institution e.g. ICE.
  • Wide experience in the design of water treatment plants.
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Business Development skills to include an understanding of market demand and the key elements of a successful bid, being a successful networker.
  • Excellent business acumen in terms of marketing, performing to budget and recognising business opportunities
  • Must be able to meet tight time constraints, and willingness to work extended hours as required
  • Good understanding of project management skills
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on projects and make decisions
  • Experience in the management of staff and staff development
  • Ability to integrate into a team and provide technical management to other members of the water treatment team.
  • Experienced level of decision making
  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Excellent client service focus.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexibility and willing to travel
