MWH has been requested by its Clients to provide competent experienced individuals to undertake the role of CDM Co-ordinator’s Representative on water industry related projects. These individuals will be dedicated to the role throughout all stages of the projects up to final completion. This is a full time role working with our client’s design and construction management teams.

The general duties of the role are as detailed below:

  • Ensuring the duties of the CDM Co-ordinator as defined by the “The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 are completed, for the projects on which they are appointed, as the Corporate CDM Co-ordinator’s Representative.
  • Advising / assisting the Client with the undertaking CDM Regulation duties and generally assisting the Client in ensuring all CDM duty holders are competent.
  • Ensuring cooperation and coordination of health and safety matters within the projects.
  • Providing advice and feed back to all relevant parties on CDM matters and lessons learnt. Attending health and safety / CDM related meetings as necessary.
  • Project Concept Phase duties include:

  • Attending meetings to identify potential solutions
  • Review of the Project initial “Starter Pack” / Pre-Construction information and identify missing requirement and help agree action plans for obtaining additional required Pre-construction information.
  • Issuing of Initial Health and Safety Notifications
  • Project Definition Phase Duties include :

  • Agreeing the format and content of the Health and Safety File with the Client
  • Helping the Client confirm the competence of all designers appointed to work on the project.
  • Ensure all designers input is coordinated and includes consideration of the Health and Safety Welfare regulations as well as other relevant regulation requirements.
  • Ensure the design input includes means of eliminating, reducing, isolating and controlling health and safety risks and hazards.
  • Collating and review of the Clients Pre-construction information packages before issue to the Contractors.
  • Project Implementation, Construction and Close Down phase duties include :

  • Issuing additional Health and Safety Notifications following the appointment of the Principal Contractor ect.
  • Review of the Contractors proposed Health Safety and Environmental Management Construction plans and advising the Client of their adequacy.
  • Assisting the Client in ensuring all contractors have adequate systems in place to manage temporary works safety issues
  • Collation of the Health and Safety File Information package and ensuring the completed Project Health and Safety File is issued to the Client.
  • To be successful in this role you will need to be a Chartered or Incorporated member of a construction / Engineering design related Institution, with good design, construction and project management related experience. Direct experience in undertaking the role of CDM Planning Supervisor / CDM Co-ordinator role is also required. In addition you will have a good understanding of general health and safety requirements associated with the planning design and construction of water industry related projects.
